Since the 4th of September I’ve had pain in my lower back. It started off dull but then as the weeks went on it got worse. About the second week it moved to the right side of my lower back. I went to a doctor and he told me it could be kidney stones and gave me Nexium. The next week my pain on a scale of 1-10 was at 10. I was in extreme pain, couldn’t move, sleep, didn’t eat, felt sick to my stomach and couldn’t really do anything. I was referred to another doctor by previous doctor. This new doctor treated me for kidney stones for two days, had me come back, did a pelvic exam and diagnosed me with BV. She gave me a weeks worth of antibiotics and some Oxycodone for pain. I still have the pain though it’s not as bad, I’d say about a 3 or 4. If I lay down it’s worse, I have to sleep in a recliner to keep from hurting so bad I can’t sleep. I’m so scared. I find stuff online that tells me it’s an STD/STI and that basically I’ll never be able to have sex with my fiance again. Which then means I won’t be able to have children and that’s something I want.

I first noticed my vagina was feeling a little itchy when I was on vacation a couple days ago, in California. I’ve had a minor itching sensation a couple times before, but I’ve found that if I ignore it and drink cranberry juice or water it goes away in a couple days. However, this time the sensation has not gone away and is much worse. My vagina is sore and itchy, and it’s very annoying. I’m not sure what caused it in the first place, and my only guess is that it could have been from the soap in the hotel I used when showering–like maybe an allergic reaction. If not that, then maybe an infection.
Earlier today I had no discomfort when peeing, but just the last time I used the bathroom I felt a slight burning feeling, which told me that something might actually be very wrong this time. Could it be a Yeast Infection? I don’t think I’ve ever had one before, so I don’t know what it’s like. While reading up information online I read it may also be something like thrush.
I was diagnosed a year ago with BV, but had it treated at the time. My discharge has been yellowish in color and thick, sort of gummy. It does smell a little bit. The second day after I noticed the itching in California, I thought my discharge looked green at one point, but even if it was it has since returned to a light yellowish color. Any ideas on what might be happening here?
I’m 21 years old and not sexually active, so I’m sure it’s not an STI.
I want to see if I can pick something up at the pharmacy to help ease the irritation, too. Are there any suggestions?
Ack, an update on my situation. I went to the store and picked up some Monistat-1, but I haven’t used it yet. When I got back I had to use the bathroom, and the slight burning sensation is still there, but now it’s stinging as well. I checked and there were little tiny, very hard to see specs of red on my toilet paper, which may be blood. Now I’m quite concerned! Is this still a Yeast Infection? Should I go ahead and use the Monistat? The specs were tiny and few, like perhaps what you might see if a rash bleeds, so I’m not use if it’s something to be really worried about or not. Help would be much appreciated!
